Friendship Groups

1 - The Friendship Group continues to flourish.  Although only a small group, it is close knit and all the members enjoy the chance to get together.  If anyone else would like to join us they would be most welcome.

Contact:  Carol Wareing, Presbytery or via contact form here

We usually meet every other Wednesday at 2pm in the church hall of St Francis of Assisi Llay.  Occasionally, we have our meeting over lunch at various venues in the area.

The Friendship Group has had a very quiet period over the last few months, partly due to the bad weather at the start of the year.  We continue to meet every other Wednesday and, now spring is properly under way we have the following activities planned:

27 April    An afternoon of music played by George Walker.

11 May    Drawing

Flower arranging, date to be arranged

Various outings have been suggested, but no dates have been finalised.

Afternoon visit to Plasau

A lunch cruise on a boat, either at Chester, Trevor or Llangollen

Lunch in Llandudno

Afternoon visit to antiques centre at Gwersyllt

Afternoon tea at the Wareings with damson picking (late August or September 2011)

2 - The Wednesday Club has been run by parishioners for many years and is an excellent opportunity to get out of the house to meet people on alternate Wednesday afternoons.

The Club is ecumenical and the afternoon starts about 1.30pm with the rosary.

There are usually a couple of games of bingo, afternoon tea and lots of time to have a friendly chat.

The afternoon usually finishes around 4 – 4.30pm.

The Wednesday Club also has an annual Christmas meal.

If anyone is interested in taking part please contact Margaret Thompson on 01978 752161 – helpers are needed, especially those who can assist with providing transport.
